The Story of Ambasthani:
A Journey of Friendship and Togetherness

It All Began with a Phone Call

On March 11, Mujeeb received a call from Ajay, who was with Shaji at the time. The trio decided to catch up at University Park in Sharjah. As their conversation came to a close, someone casually suggested, “Why don’t we create a WhatsApp group and add everyone from our batch?” Mujeeb agreed.

Later that evening, while Mujeeb stepped out briefly, Sheba, his wife, took the initiative to create the group along with Shaji and Ajay. Thus, the foundation of the Ambasthani group was laid—starting as a simple idea and becoming something far more meaningful.

A Reunion to Remember September 6, 2017

After parting ways on March 20, 1989, no one could’ve imagined the joy that awaited nearly three decades later. On September 6, 2017, the batch reunited at their school, bringing with them a mix of emotions, memories, and laughter.

Former teachers and school staff joined the celebration, and heartfelt tributes, tokens of appreciation, and warm hugs filled the day. This unforgettable gathering marked the first of many Ambasthani Reunions, a tradition that now proudly enters its ninth year.

From a Group to a Name – The Birth of ‘Ambasthani’

With the group growing and reconnecting old friends, the main admin proposed branding the group with a unique name. A fun competition was held, complete with a cash prize, to inspire creativity.

While the name Mashithand/Kayyopp won the contest based on likes, another name—Ambasthani—caught everyone’s attention. Though it was disqualified due to a rule violation, the admin, with group-wide support, officially adopted Ambasthani as the name for the NHS 88-89 SSLC batch, celebrating unity and the bond they shared.
